Hey Khiya!!! I’m doing well in the midst of running around campus 24/7. Solids lab reports are lovely… oh so lovely… Update: so i’m not with my dance group this semester…. BUT i enrolled in a modern dance class! I love it :)

This conversation brings up a lot of good points about that go beyond just the black man’s opinion of natural hair. As I watched the video, I definitely could relate to some of the opinions that were mention (ex. getting my hair permed, then choosing to go natural again). I just reflected on my experiences with my hair and considered the reasons behind all of my decisions with my hair.
This afternoon, I had a scheduled advising meeting with the director of the Meyerhoff Program. This is not your typical academic advising setting. This is real talk! He is like father that teaches needed and appropriate life lessons and I am like child that listens and obeys out of respect. Last semester was rough for me, but after talking with him a few things came to surface - things on how I can optimize the outcome of certain situations.

Or at least that is what I will continue to tell myself until the day that I cease to exist on this Earth. I am young… Age does not completely determine the way that I should and will act. Now, that doesn’t mean that I will walk around as a 50 year-old acting like a teenage, carefree young girl. I am not in denial with myself. Of course I will grow and mature with wisdom and experiences for a lifetime. What I am saying is that I will have a youthful perspective on life. There’s no need for me to constantly walk around depressed because I’m simply “getting older” or approaching 30, 40, or 50. Instead, I choose to embrace the different avenues that each year brings me to and live, love, and laugh with a youthful mentality.

At various times throughout the [school] week, I just felt like my common sense with regards to engineering knowledge or concepts just flew out the window. Not only was I stumbling upon my own school-related thoughts, but I was finding myself having a numerous amount of “oh” moments when I finally realized what the heck was coming out of my mouth. Yes, I did have time to realize what I need to do to address the situation, but sometimes it just seems like it’s not enough.
Goal for next week: Be on top of my ish and reduce the amount of “moments” I encounter.

Had a random urge to just make out with the person sitting next to you? I don’t know how that feeling happens but its kinda weird to think about. Maybe my hormones are just kicking in.
